USA Mortgage was proud to lead the way on the Bare Shelves Project benefitting the Jefferson County Rescue Mission!

The mission of the Jefferson County Rescue Mission is to provide food, clothing and shelter for the needy who come to them from Jefferson County and a portion of St. Louis County, Missouri. They serve the homeless and other hungry people, the unemployed, victims of abuse, children, the elderly and dysfunctional family members. The hurting people who come to them are clearly in need of more than the obvious food, clothing and shelter which they may be lacking. Some seek a refuge from violence. Some want help finding assistance in overcoming drug or alcohol abuse. Some seek referrals to educational assistance or job training. All who cannot help themselves turn to them, and they have NEVER turned away a call for help. But, because the calls for help are coming in ever-increasing numbers in Missouri, they often cannot help their clients to the full extent that their needs demand.

Their Policy:

"The Jefferson County Rescue Mission never uses gimmicks or solicits funds from door to door or makes phone calls asking for money. Neither do we place canisters in businesses for the purpose of collecting money. We do not automatically send out our newsletter without the reader's permission. We never assume a donor wants a newsletter unless he or she requests it. We do not buy mailing lists and use them to send out our bimonthly newsletters. Public Relations firms are not hired to help us raise money to operate the Jefferson County Rescue Mission. By faith we believe and depend on monetary gifts from our newsletter readers, local churches and organizations, and from people who hear and see our free public service announcements. It is our belief that people will give if they see that it's a worthy cause. In essence, that is how we raise funds to operate this mission."

Referrals are made to them by local police, the Sheriff's Department, Missouri Division of Family Services, Family Preservation, Ministerial Alliance, Jefferson Memorial Hospital, State Highway Patrol, churches and other organizations and shelters. They receive NO AID from the United Way, federal or state governmental agencies or government-sponsored welfare programs. The mission is totally funded by individual donations, local churches, Charitable Foundations and Corporate Grants and certain other service organizations such as the local Lions, Optimists, Rotary and Kiwanis Club.
